HIPAA Compliance

It is the organization, not technology that must be HIPAA compliant. However technology can be used to help the organization in its efforts to be HIPAA compliant.

Pursuant to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 ("HIPAA"), VHA-IMCSS, a provider of software and consulting services, incorporates initiatives that protect the privacy and provide for the security of patient treatment records, in accordance with all provisions of HIPAA and as set forth in the Code of Federal Regulations, 42 C.F.R. Part 2-confidentiality of alcohol and drug abuse patient records. Valley Hope Association is fully accredited and has met performance measurement Standards that are relevant to organizations with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

The HL-7 Standards Model is intended to reflect a superset of all the functions needed in health care, from which specialties such as behavioral health and specific types of settings such as community mental health centers can derive subsets for their own specific EHR Conformance Profiles. Many of the items in the superset of criteria are already successfully incorporated into our behavioral health software design but we have chosen to await the publishing of the industry specific conformance profile before we further address these standards.
